Assistance Animal Certifications have become very easy to obtain online. How does a housing provider know if a person truly qualifies for accommodation, or is just attempting to get their family pet approved in a no-pet apartment?

At the end of January 2020, the government updated its rules regarding assessing a person's request to have an animal as a reasonable accommodation under the Fair Housing Act. They have provided a tool we can use to determine the type and amount of documentation we can ask from the person requesting accommodation, and how to document it.
